In most cases, the search begins with those no longer among the living. People soon find free genealogy programs like PAF that allows adding and editing family members. At some point, it becomes difficult to share the data. The answer is a program called Elijah which is a server based data base that can be accessed by anyone with an Internet connection, anywhere in the world.
